Last weekend; 6th and 7th of July Members of Cumbraland were at a Open weekend at Moor Forge near Gilcrux, in Cumbria. It was a great opportunity to reinforce our link with the site and to help support this excellent facility, and start what I hope will be a network of early medieval sites and groups in Cumbria and the North West.
We set up our tents and shelters, and throughout the weekend had displays of textile crafts, woodworking, and varying displays of metalwork and weaponry, alongside more domestic items. In the evening after the visitors had left, we stopped in kit as we usually do, and cooked a meal with period cooking equiptment and enjoyed the sunset and atmosphere at the site!
I've put together a little gallery of pictures from the event; click left and right to scroll through them; I hope you enjoy!
