Living History Event at The Govan Stones

Hi everyone, We'd like to announce our first event is in only two weeks time on Saturday 30th March, between 11am and 4pm, at The Govan Stones. The Govan site is the 'ground zero' of the tenth century Kingdom of Strathclyde, so a very appropriate place to start our group off, and what we hope is the inaugural event of many at this fantastic venue. We'll have reproduction artefact from the area of the Kingdom of Strathclyde, and the wider region, including weapons, clothing, jewellery and tools from some early tenth century viking burials, as well as Anglo-Saxon, Gaelic, and Brittonic material culture. We'll also have a some 'have a go' activities for you to try your hand at, including; spinning wool, nalebinding (like Viking knitting, but easier!), early medieval board games, weapons handling, and hands on sessions on laying out a viking burial for a funeral!

If you have never been, then what are you waiting for, get along on the 30th, as we provide a grand finale to the 'Stones and Bones' March events, and if you have been before then you already know what a fantastic site it is, and you have the added bonus of lovely bunch being there! Hope to see you all soon! https://www.facebook.com/TheGovanStonesProject https://twitter.com/GovanStones http://www.thegovanstones.org.uk/
